Even though Lava 20 is very sticky a coat of Lava 20 Primer is recommended on all substrates.

Owl Lava 20 can be used in new constructions or the refurbishment of all types of balconies, steps or walkways. Ensure substrate is clean and dry before starting.

Step. 1 Prime

Step. 2 Apply Lava 20 system.

Step. 3 Apply a clear coat of Lava 20 with quartz or PVA flakes to create a stylish non slip surface.

Step. 1 Clean the roof with a jet washer

Step. 2 If any, repair holes and weak joints with Owl Flashing Grade or Owl Roof silicone coating embedded in Owl Roof Polyester fabric.

Step. 3 Coat the entire area with Owl Roof silicone coating as required. Thats it, job done.

Owl balcony systems come in a variety of colours and can be mixed to give all sorts of multi coloured finishes.
Dont worry your new coating will be fine as it is moisture cured (this means it dries even under water).

Owl Lava 20 application rates vary depending on required outcome.

A 10 year system is a one coat application: apply 1.8 kg per square meter.

A 20 year system is two coat application: apply 3kg per square meter. First coat is applied at a rate of 1.8 kg per square meter and the second 1.2kg per square meter.

Allowing 10% extra for waste is recommended.

Yes Owl Balcony systems have excellent slip resistance, with a standard slip resistance rating of 70 Owl balcony systems far exceed the slip resistance safety standards so rest assured you are very safe with Owl.

Owl Roof will adhere to most substrates including felt, asphalt, metal and more without primer.

Substrates that require primer are: Single Ply, PVC, TPO and EPDM.
